Beer Bread

Beer Bread is another recipe that I can't take credit for. It's one of those quick recipes that everyone just seems to know. I can't even remember now how I came into possession of this recipe but it's a good one - and easy! This is a great way to use the Bisquick Substitute I posted about earlier.

Beer Bread
3 Cups flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
12 oz dark beer (Killian's Irish Red, Sam Adam's Boston Lager, etc)
1/2 stick butter, melted

  • Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • Gently mix in the beer. This is a quick bread so you don't want to over-mix.
  • Transfer to a lightly greased loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350° F for 50 to 55 minutes.
  • Remove from oven. Pour melted butter over the baked bread. Place back in the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
    • Call me Paula Dean, but the butter really is necessary. However, you could cut it down to 2 tbsp and it will still be good.
  • Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
