3 Cups flour
1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
12 oz dark beer (Killian's Irish Red, Sam Adam's Boston Lager, etc)
1/2 stick butter, melted
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Gently mix in the beer. This is a quick bread so you don't want to over-mix.
- Transfer to a lightly greased loaf pan.
- Bake at 350° F for 50 to 55 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Pour melted butter over the baked bread. Place back in the oven and bake for another 5 to 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Call me Paula Dean, but the butter really is necessary. However, you could cut it down to 2 tbsp and it will still be good.
- Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
